&@*#@($ The Senate passed the debt ceiling plan (the House approved it yesterday). No doubt that Obama will sign it. I’m really angry at the Democrats for being meek and passive about this. The Republicans, the extortionists that they are, held the American people hostage for weeks. (At one point, proposing to cut Medicare and Social Security) Watch as the economy is headed for another recession because the Republicans have gotten their way (and observe as the Republicans successively pin this on the Democrats in the next election - this is the same shit they pulled off in the last election to get a majority in the House).
How does it make any sense to cut benefit programs for the poor before raising the taxes for the very wealthy? Oh, and they’re going to cut subsidized student loans. I was fortunate enough to not rely on those in college, but they are many students who depend on those loans.
